SUMMARY:Business Emergency Preparedness
DESCRIPTION:FREE BROWN BAG LUNCH WORKSHOP\n\n\n\nLa Paz County Emergency Management would like to give an overview of the \n\nCounty Multi Hazard Mitigation Plan: \n\nWHAT IS MITIGATION? Mitigation is the effort to reduce loss of life and property by lessening the impact of disasters. Mitigation is taking action now through analyzing risk\, reducing risk\, or insuring against risk-to reduce the human and financial consequences of the future disasters. \n\nWHAT IS A HAZARD MITIGATION PLAN? A hazard mitigation plan is a stake holder driven document that a state\, tribal\, or local government uses to describe risks and vulnerabilities as well as long term strategies and implementation approaches for reducing loss of life and property from natural disasters. Mitigation plans are key to breaking the cycle of disaster damage\, reconstruction\, and repeated damage. \n\nPURPOSE The La Paz County Multi-Jurisdictional Hazard Mitigation Plan is a comprehensive plan that demonstrates the communities' and tribe's commitment to reducing risks from hazards and serves as a tool to help decision makers direct mitigation activities and resources. The plan provides an opportunity to detail a variety of potential hazards that could affect some or all our resident and it will also allow the County\, Town of Quartzsite\, Town of Parker and CRIT to be eligible for future mitigation funding from the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA).\n\n \n\nBusiness COOP Planning\n\nWhat Is Business Continuity of Operations Planning (COOP)?\n\nIt is the process of creating systems (Plan) of prevention and recovery to deal with potential threats to a business. \n\nWhy Plan?\n\nA COOP Plan outlines a range of disaster scenarios and the steps the business will take in any particular scenario (Disaster). COOP's are written ahead of time and can also include precautions to be put in place. Usually created with the input of key staff as well as stakeholders \n\nWhen a disaster occurs\, businesses must take care of their employees' needs\, communicate the impact\, address financial matters (e.g.\, insurance\, disaster assistance)\, restore operations\, and organize recovery.
